    Press releases - 14 September 2010

National Restaurant chain is a taste of what's to come

    14 September 2010

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has announced a landmark deal today, as national restaurant chain Prezzo has confirmed a new outlet at Mills Bakery, Royal William Yard.

Prezzo, which specialises in Italian cuisine, will operate its new restaurant from a 4,700 sq ft unit at the scheme. Fans of the Yard’s views will also be delighted to hear that there will be an outdoor bistro area immediately in front of the restaurant.

Jonathan Kaye, CEO of Prezzo said: “Aside from the quality of our fantastic food, Prezzo’s main selling point is that our restaurants are situated in historic buildings so there really was a perfect synergy between our company and Mills Bakery. We really are looking forward to opening our doors later in the year and hope that the people of Plymouth, and its visitors, thoroughly enjoy what we’re serving up!”

Prezzo is one of the country’s most desired and renowned restaurant chains. The listed company boasts 140 outlets around the UK, four of which are in the South West with popular restaurants in Torquay, Exmouth, Barnstable and Exeter.

In a further deal existing Mills Bakery restaurant the Seco Lounge has confirmed that it is to take an additional 1,676 sq ft of space, increasing the size of its current operations. The unit will be available for private functions and will feature state audio visual equipment for any corporate use. It is expected to be able to host events for up to 60 people.

Both restaurants are in prominent positions at the Yard. Overlooking the site’s marina, customers at both outlets will benefit from stunning views across Plymouth Sound.

The deals come on the back of a wealth of commercial announcements at the scheme, which is now 81% let with a further 9% of space under offer. The wealth of deals means that the Yard has established itself as Plymouth’s number one waterfront destination.

Emily Jones, associate director at Urban Splash, added: “Looking back 2010 definitely has been the pivotal year for the Royal William Yard. We’ve been on the site for a few years and in that time have focussed on creating award winning, beautifully designed, affordable homes and now that we have a great mix of people established on site its felt the right time to bring in a diverse mix of commercial occupiers. Fortunately the stunning buildings, the waterfront location and the historical backdrop has helped us generate a lot of interest within the market.

“We have some fantastic organisations on site and the expansion of Seco Lounge and the introduction of Prezzo is fantastic news for everyone involved with the Royal William Yard and its visitors.”

Mills Bakery has also received four awards this year, including the Daily Telegraph British Homes Award for “Best Conversion”.

Limited space remains within the building, for further information about space within the Urban Splash portfolio visit ec2-63-34-210-119.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com/commerci... or call the commercial team on 0333 666 0000.
