A great place to start if you are looking for inspiration for your new home is Instagram, it was here I found the sofa (Hoxton, DFS - £949) featured in the one bed. When I read the linked blog I was sold (thats the power of #ad & #gifted for you). I was surprised to see it came from DFS, it’s a real “diamond in the rough” and has formed the centrepiece for the living space, a starting block to build the rest of the room around.

The Mixologist Table, LSA, £200. This table was an essential side piece, like the Sofa it has a leather strap detail, tying the two pieces together. We have styled ours with some nice glassware (also from LSA) and some beautiful plants – don’t worry if you haven’t got green fingers, places like Homesense & Dunelm sell great fakes (like the ones we’ve used here).

I opted for a dining table and chairs from Cult Furniture, the space in these one beds is really generous allowing me to get a real statement table at 160cm long, we’ve only seated for 4 but there’s plenty of room in here to make your dinner party bigger.

For finishing touches lighting on the ceilings was John Lewis, while living room lamp was from Made.com; for the dressings I mixed things up, with a range of pieces by H&M Home, Habitat, Hay and Graham & Green.

The artwork, Dessenio, £various: Art really finishes a room, I purchased all the pieces in the one bed from Desenio, a great one stop shop for prints and frames, and if you are nervous about creating a gallery wall they have a great tool to help.

Ikea is always my first stop of bedroom, its all in the styling and people are often surprised when I tell them something is from Ikea. This solid wood bedframe in Birch, again with leather strap details was dressed with soft green bedlinen from the H&M conscious collection, picking up on the planting through out the scheme.

Other surpise Ikea pieces in the apartment are the Grondal Rocking Chair, Stockholm bench and Lohals rug all of which I have used before and I know I will use again in the future.

The location of this apartment on the rear of the building, with its generous fully glazed wall and bundles of natural light meant we could user darker more modern pieces of furniture without making the space feel too masculine.

Statement sofa, Hay Mags, £various; Again starting with the main seat in the house this sofa really frames living space, and makes the most of the views out of the window and is perfectly complimented by the accent chair from made.com

Accessories and artwork are a great way to bring colour & personality to a scheme if you don’t want to jump straight in with a green sofa. They can tell a story through art work in this space to makes a statement, the Anthony Burrill print really sums up the lovely folk here in the north east (hard working and nice!) while the Tom Pigeon tin shed prints are an intentional nod to the Smokehouses design and the inspiration the architects drew on from older buildings in and around the local area.

The space is finished off with bright cushions and accessories and the Tom Pigeon’s second appearance in the rug which they designed for made.com.

Bedroom furniture, Made, £various: With the two bedrooms we wanted show how versatile the space is and that anyone’s taste can work in this space with the two contrasting schemes one a particularly the bold colour combinations (pink and green – a lovely juxtaposition of the masculine schemes in the living areas) and a second the monochrome and more “grown up” look. The pink and green room is features brass furniture heavily with pieces from the made.com Alana range.

The bed in the monochrome room was a real steal at only £99 for the double frame from Argos (yes you heard me right). Other pieces in the room came from La Redoute, made.com & again it features art work from Dessenio.
