Take a stroll around Manchester with our brand new guide
If you’re in Manchester this week and looking for some (COVID-safe) fun things to do, why not take a walk around New Islington, following our handy downloadable guide.
A far cry from its former reputation, New Islington is one of the city’s coolest places to live, work and play in. Gone are the days of the area being used as a backdrop to Frank Gallagher’s drunken exploits in Shameless, instead, it's somewhere now filled with awesome architecture, brilliantly designed homes, places to eat and sites to see.
You can wander around the Cotton Field Park and New Islington Marina, with a Pollen Bakery coffee in one hand and Northern Eudaimonia treats in the other. Head over to the west of the neighbourhood to see the old school mills and original architecture - places like Beehive Mill and Waulk Mill, each so rich in Manchester’s industrial history - while over on the eastern side, you’ll find Chips - the colourful brainchild of the late, great architect Will Alsop.
So, pack up your umbrella, pop on your trainers and download your mobile-friendly PDF here. (Don’t forget to stay COVID safe too and socially distance while you’re visiting the local area)
