Developers chosen to design and deliver visionary proposals for landmark site

25 February 2018

Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) has appointed Crest Nicholson and a joint venture between Urban Splash and Places for People as preferred developers for Campbell Park Northside, the 12 hectare (29.6 acre) site to the north of Silbury Boulevard between Marlborough Gate and the Grand Union Canal.

It is intended that Campbell Park Northside will be a residentially led, mixed-use scheme that will frame the northern edge of Campbell Park providing a high quality, high density urban scheme comprising around 1,500 private and affordable homes, a local centre with food and beverage outlets, a hotel with associated facilities and office/employment accommodation.

Detailed proposals will be developed over the next few months in preparation for extensive stakeholder engagement and public consultation before final designs are prepared for submission with planning applications.

MKDP’s chief executive Charles Macdonald says: “This is one of the most important sites in Milton Keynes, which will help to inspire and shape the city’s future. It was vital that the selection process to determine appropriate developers was even more stringent and far reaching than usual and the choice of partners was considered not only by MKDP’s board but also by local Councillors. Our chosen partners’ expertise includes experience of delivering exciting and award-winning projects, urban design and generation and provision of high quality, affordable housing.”

Scott Black, Managing Director, Crest Nicholson Regeneration said: “We are delighted to be selected by the Milton Keynes Development Partnership to deliver this exciting, large-scale scheme alongside Urban Splash and Places for People. Following on from the success of our Oakgrove Village development in Milton Keynes, we look forward to harnessing our local understanding of the market and our passion for building vibrant, high-quality developments to benefit the local community.

Urban Splash director Nathan Cornish added: “We have been truly captivated by the history of Milton Keynes and the Campbell Park Northside site ever since we became aware that MKDP was looking for a partner.

“With its boundaries to the Grand Union Canal, Campbell Park and the edge of the city centre, we think this site represents one of the most exciting development opportunities in the country – so we and Places for People are naturally thrilled to have been selected.”

Concluded Mary Parsons, Group Director of Places for People: “Places for People has had a presence in Milton Keynes for many years as a landlord and developer. Following on from our award-winning developments at Wolverton Park and Brooklands, we see Campbell Park as the next exciting chapter in the city’s history and we are all really looking forward to working with MKDP, Crest Nicholson and our partners, Urban Splash, to deliver it.”
