    Press releases - 18 April 2013

Pieminister and Wagamama added to the menu at Urban Splash

    18 April 2013

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has announced that Pieminister has taken space at its Smithfield Buildings in Manchester.

The gourmet food brand has confirmed that it will take a ground floor 728 sq ft unit at the scheme which is based in Manchester's Northern Quarter. It will add to Pieminister's growing portfolio of retail outlets; other locations include Bristol, London and Amsterdam.

Pieminister's Graham White said: "We are thrilled to have anchored the brand in Manchester. The Northern Quarter is absolutely the right place for Pieminister and the Smithfield Building with its existing culinary mix is the perfect context. We look forward to launching and thank Urban Splash for their assistance to date."

Claire McAllister-Ince of Urban Splash added: "Pieminister is a fantastic UK brand and we are thrilled to have secured its first Manchester venture within one of our buildings. Smithfield's already got a great retail and food mix and this is really going to add to the offering; its great news for people living and working in the city - especially those in the Northern Quarter."

The news comes after a successful first quarter for Urban Splash in attracting food tenants to its portfolio. The Manchester based developer now manages more than 2 million sq ft of commercial space across the UK and has also announced that national restaurant chain Wagamama has taken a 4750 sq ft unit at its Royal William Yard scheme in Plymouth.

The Urban Splash commercial portfolio is now 90% let. Other opportunities in Manchester include retail, office and leisure space at Longlands Mill in Stalybridge, industrial space in Castlefield and office space around the city.

Concluded Claire: “These tenants are testament to our ability to attract a mix of great businesses across the portfolio. The fantastically diverse we offer helps us accommodate tenants from small, managed one-person offices to multinational tenants, who benefit from the high design quality found at the core of our portfolio. We also offer flexible terms and simple lease structures."
