Urban Splash acquires Barton Business Park

24 May 2016

Award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash has acquired Barton Business Park in Eccles, and announced it has invested over £50m on its developments.

The purchase of the 2.6-acre industrial site is the sixth by Urban Splash in as many months, a period in which the company has acquired – with cash – properties totaling £6m including the former Regiment pub in Castlefield, Phoenix Mill in Ancoats and 4 Canal Street in Manchester plus sites in Walsall, Salford and the Civic Centre in Plymouth.

Speaking of the deal, Urban Splash Chairman Tom Bloxham MBE said: “We are delighted to have acquired this site; this recent run of acquisitions demonstrates that we are in a position to move quickly to completion without fuss and are still keen to seek out further sites for sale.”

Urban Splash has also invested £50m on its land holdings, refurbishing its commercial portfolio and revitalising office spaces at the Tea Factory and Slater Street in Liverpool. It has completed the entire North block at Park Hill in Sheffield – which brought with it 260 homes and 40,000 sq ft of commercial space, as well as Stubbs Mill in Manchester, which will offer 27,000 sq ft of raw, inspiring workspaces upon completion this summer.

2016 also sees Urban Splash complete its first modular family housing concept hoUSe, with all 43 of the first properties at New Islington in Manchester city centre having sold and a further 72 being developed close by at Irwell Riverside with more shortly on-site at Smith’s Dock in North Shields.

Tom continued: “Our recent activity shows that we have returned to engaging in what we do best; delivering award winning, design-led and innovative regeneration schemes across the country and investing in sites with potential, nurturing them through refurbishment and effective asset management.”
