Urban Splash completes deals on 18,969 sq ft of space in Q3

10 October 2023

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has rounded off Q3 with deals on more than 18,900 sq ft of space across its commercial portfolio – welcoming new tenants and extending leases with existing customers.

Among the lettings is a 4,813 sq ft deal at Waulk Mill in Ancoats with KOMI Group. KOMI are owners and operators of one of the largest digital media portfolios in Europe, attracting over 2.5 billion content views per month, working with brands like Meta, Disney, HSBC and The Jimmy Fallon Show. KOMI’s managing director is former Urban Splash colleague Sam Lenehan who explained: “My time at Urban Splash was one of the most enjoyable periods of my career, and I’ve maintained my friendships with my former workmates.

“We required a new base to both accommodate KOMI’s future growth and inspire our colleagues and clients each day; Waulk Mill is doing just that, with a gritty aesthetic that embodies the best of industrial Manchester, but we’ve also invested in our own fitout to bring in designs that reflect our own brand. We can’t wait to show people around.”

KOMI were also joined at Waulk Mill, which is in Manchester’s thriving Ancoats district, by Zenith Management who move into a 922 sq ft space. Other deals were completed in Liverpool, with the Fatboy Burgers restaurant completing on a new, 790 sq ft restaurant, and at Matchworks where incumbent occupier Climbing Hangar has expanded its space with an additional 3,577 sq ft of space, making more room to bolster its popular climbing wall and café offering which first opened in 2021.

Speaking of the deals, Urban Splash’s Emma Gardiner said: “We are delighted to have maintained a consistent level of lettings, even in a challenging market. Our strengths lie in a flexible offering, meaning that occupiers can opt for terms that suit them as they look ahead and assess the macroeconomic landscape.

“We are also proud of our relationships with customers, something which has contributed significantly to this quarter’s deals, with longstanding friends at KOMI and The Climbing Hangar continuing to work with us. I am delighted to welcome all our new customers into our portfolio.”
