Urban Splash launches Funky & Affordable homes at Saxton, Leeds for First Time Buyers

Potential home owners are set to receive a welcome boost today as award winning regeneration company Urban Splash launches their brand of ‘Funky & Affordable’ homes. The Saxton development offers Leeds city centre’s only shared ownership properties.

Buyers now have the chance to buy through a shared ownership scheme from £50,000 for a 50 per cent share or £99,950 outright. Shared ownership is available on 139 of the 410 one and two bedroom apartments at the Saxton development in the East Bank area of Leeds.

Saxton is the only shared ownership option for buyers in Leeds city centre providing an affordable route to home ownership for first time buyers. In order to qualify, customers need to have a combined household income of less than £60,000 and not already own their own home.

Prospective buyers can purchase a share in their home ranging from 25-75% of the value. The share purchased is determined by what the purchaser can afford. The scheme is backed by the Government and is an initiative to help people into home ownership. Buyers have the option to then increase their share in the home as their financial position improves until they own 100 per cent of the property.

If customers are not quite ready to purchase due to the lack of deposit, there is also a rental option available which will help first time buyers save for their deposit.

Saxton is unlike anything previously available within Leeds city centre. Just five minutes walk from Call Lane, Saxton will offer 6.5 acres of private gardens, allotments and parking, coupled with high specification, spacious city living apartments with floor to ceiling windows and an on-site gym. Residents have all the benefits of the city centre on their doorstep with the peace and tranquillity of a home set in its own gardens.

Saxton comprises of a total of 410 one and two bedroom apartments, with 176 already occupied in ‘Drive’, the first phase, with the next phase of apartments in ‘Parade’ due to be ready for occupancy in Spring this year.

Saxton is being delivered by Urban Splash in partnership with The Homes and Communities Agency, the national housing and regeneration delivery agency which aims to create the opportunity for people to live in homes they can afford in places they want to live.
