Urban Splash lets more than 2,000 sq ft in new Manchester deals

23 February 2015

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has completed deals on more than 2,000 sq ft of commercial space in its Manchester portfolio, just days after the news that it completed deals on an additional 10,000 sq ft of space at schemes in Liverpool.

At the Smithfield Building in Manchester, international footwear retailer Vans has taken an 836 sq ft retail unit on the ground floor of the building. Meanwhile Shane Hamilton Barbers has also taken space on the ground floor of the building in a 763 sq ft unit.

Meanwhile architect practice Ollier Smurthwaite has become the first commercial occupier to open an office in Albert Mill, a mixed use shell scheme in Castlefield. Following the completion of its purchase of a 683 sq ft ground floor unit in the building, the firm has now completed its fit out of the unit which saw them add solid walnut divides to the space.

Matt Ollier from the firm said: “Albert Mill really is beautiful so to have those kinds of surroundings whilst being able to make a mark on your own space here is great. We wanted to try and be a little different and create a quirky and inspiring office. We think we've achieved it!”

A further deal at Ducie House saw Influential Media take more than 300 sq ft over two units at the building.

Lynn Haime, associate director at Urban Splash, said: “August was a very busy month for completing deals within our commercial portfolio. With deals in Manchester and Liverpool now complete we have let or sold more than 11,000 sq ft of space, a great achievement and reflective of the encouraging activity beginning to show in the commercial lettings market in these cities.

“Similar shell spaces are available at Chips in Manchester City Centre and Longlands Mill in Stalybridge where offices and retail/leisure spaces, which can be fitted out and tailored to the occupier’s own requirements, are now available from 1,604 sq ft to 6,275 sq ft.”
