Urban Splash unveils plans for Stubbs Mill

02 February 2016

Award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash has unveiled its plans for Stubbs Mill in New Islington, revealing two brand new CGis that show how the 19th Century building will soon look. Prices have also been revealed with space available from just £12.50 per sq ft.

The building, which was originally constructed between 1880 and 1930, is undergoing extensive transformation by Urban Splash and will be ready for occupation in summer 2016. The newly released CGIs show what the building will soon look like and how the developer – working with its architects SixTwo – has drawn inspiration from the building’s original uses, retaining original features. In total, Urban Splash is creating 27,500 sq ft of space with raw, inspired offices from 2,500 sq ft plus an impressive ‘third space’ – a communal, creative facility for tenants.

Urban Splash development manager Paul Jones said: “We are delighted to reveal these images and show prospective tenants what the building will look like upon completion in the summer. We are passionate about bringing heritage buildings back to life; as challenging as they are, Stubbs Mill will provide amazing spaces for interesting businesses.”

Once a thriving textiles mill on the fringe of the city, the building has long stood derelict. It will now form part of New Islington, a new district which features homes, workspaces, a Metrolink stop, a primary school, a park, marina and health centre. The location means that the city centre and Piccadilly train station are just ten minutes away, Paul continued: “New Islington is one of Manchester’s most exciting new districts which along with Ancoats, is undergoing huge regeneration. It really is an exciting place to be at the moment and businesses moving to Stubbs Mill will be part of one of Manchester’s’ most exciting regeneration projects.”

Stubbs Mill is being developed by Urban Splash and it is the latest in a long line of heritage buildings the developer has transformed, including Albert Mill in Castlefield, Smithfield in the Northern Quarter and Longlands in Stalybridge. Agents for the scheme are Bilfinger GVA and Edwards&Co who are now taking enquiries on the space available and interested parties should contact either David Thwaites david.thwaites@gva.co.uk, Ed Keany ed@edwardsandco.com, or Paul Jones at Urban Splash – pauljones@urbansplash.co.uk
