Lakeshore Welcomes Back Imperial Tobacco Factory Workers

06 September 2012

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has invited ex-workers from the Old Imperial Tobacco Factory HQ to a reunion and exclusive open evening at the Lakeshore apartments on Thursday 13th September.

Over 120 ex and current workers, their friends and family are expected to once again walk the halls of the Grade II listed building.

The stunning atrium, housed under the new ETFE roof will be the unique setting for the reunion, where guests will be meeting up for the first time since the original factory closed in 1990 amongst the flying lawns and trees which fill the inside of the building, extending the 10 acres of landscaping indoors. Visitors will be bringing mementos, pictures and keepsakes from their days working at the largest cigarette factory in Europe and will enjoy an exclusive tour of the fabulous apartments and facilities onsite.

The glass fronted lifts descend over the seven floors, offering fantastic views throughout the building and each stylish apartment has extra high ceilings, under floor heating and full length windows. The varying styles of apartments means there is something for everyone to love, including mezzanine bedrooms with full height glazing allowing lots of natural light inside, whilst most apartments have generous balconies. Outside, the 10 acres of landscaped gardens include an orchard, raised bed allotments, wildlife walks, stone walled BBQ areas and a boules court. There is also an onsite gym and secure parking for all apartments. The lake is now home to two beautiful swans, a family of ducks and plenty of fish, which allow the residents to enjoy the fishing club and uplit pontoon.

Nicola Wallis, Director of Sales at Urban Splash talks in more detail: “We are delighted to welcome back the workers from the Imperial Tobacco Factory and introduce them to the current residents who are enjoying living at Lakeshore. It’s been lovely to learn about each person’s history with the building and to show them how it is once again back in use, as fantastic homes for people including some of the employees who used to work here. We have over 100 residents living here, from families and young professionals to downsizers and more residents are moving in daily.” Lakeshore homes are available through a number of different purchasing options including shared ownership, allowing customers to buy 50% of their home from as little as £65,000. The show apartment is open on Tues – Sat 11am – 6pm and Thursday 11am – 8pm. To book an appointment or for more information call 0117 325 0308.
