New homes set to launch at Port Loop - with Connells appointed as agents
Joint venture partners Urban Splash and Places for People have appointed Connells to support the launch of 58 new homes at Port Loop in Birmingham.
The partners have been transforming this historic, 43-acre canalside site, already delivering 105 new homes – all of which are completed and fully-occupied – as well as a one-acre public park, towpath improvements, and partnerships with local operators to deliver a broad programme of community events.
Now, they are on the cusp of releasing the next phase of homes for sale in the form of the site’s first apartments. The 58 homes will stand in a newly created block called Mansion House; designed by architects shedkm, with a range of two-bedroom, two-bathroom and two-bedroom, one-bathroom homes on offer. The apartments boast extra high ceilings, large windows, and a dual aspect floods the space with light and provides long views - making the apartments feel spacious in every direction. The homes have been created both thoughtfully and flexible in design, with quality fixtures and fittings as standard, and outside space to each property.
The homes at Mansion House are larger than average apartments in the area with floorplates up to 826 sq ft, and offer peaceful views in an enviable setting at the water’s edge on the Birmingham New Main Canal. In walking distance of Birmingham City Centre, the apartments – which all feature balconies overlooking the canal - are also located just a stone’s throw away from the on-site communal gardens, a new swimming pool and leisure centre, plus central Birmingham’s first new public green spaces in over a decade. Port Loop really is Birmingham’s most exciting new place to live with the homes set to be available for outright purchase and via shared ownership.

The Mansion House launch is part of a new phase of works at Port Loop, where the joint venture partners are moving forward with a further 528 new homes – designs for which are in planning. Future proposals include a 31 house-scheme also designed by shedkm, with properties of between 2-3 storeys which offer two to five bedrooms, plus a phase of 331-apartments designed by Birmingham-architect Howells – a phase which will feature a new public park and residential green spaces onto a new canal towpath in alignment with both partners long standing commitment to sustainability and opening up the waterways at Port Loop. The neighbourhood has also benefitted from a £13 million investment by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) – funding which will help to deliver the new homes at Phase 2 at Port Loop.
