Press release - 25 June 2024

Urban Splash completes 20,796 sq ft of North West deals in bumper month

25 June 2024

Regeneration company Urban Splash has announced a spate of deals in its commercial portfolio – with 20,796 sq ft of space let in just one month.

Among them is digital media consultancy Dizplai which has taken the final remaining space at Richmond Street in Manchester’s Gay Village. Since acquiring the former textiles premises in 2022 Urban Splash has invested in the space, adding value to the historic structure with new designs and creating a vibrant commercial community, with three floors of now fully occupied workspaces with other tenants including creative agencies Leith and Couch.

The Dizplai deal is one of many completed in Manchester in recent weeks. Compleo Health moved into Beehive Mill in the thriving Ancoats district. Once home to Manchester nightclub institution Sankeys, Beehive has been restored for a new generation. It is one of many Urban Splash workspaces in the area following the company’s investment in Ancoats and New Islington, helping to create a new canalside neighbourhood for the city. Brother Models has also made a move in Ancoats, relocating from Beehive Mill to a larger space in the nearby Waulk Mill.

Speaking of the deals, Emma Gardiner of Urban Splash said: “The way we work continues to evolve, and it’s clear that business leaders have an appetite for well-designed, well-connected spaces in which their people can thrive.

“Buildings like Richmond Street and Beehive Mill are great examples of that, and we’re delighted to welcome our newest customers into those spaces.”

Other deals were completed in Liverpool city centre’s Ropewalks – one of the first neighbourhoods regenerated by Urban Splash in the 1990s. Here a significant 2,295 sq ft of space was let unfitted at the Vanilla Factory to Fourth Wall Creative which specialises in digital media and maximising clients’ engagement. Emma continued: “There’s a definite shift in the Liverpool city market, which is moving towards sub-1,000 sq ft fitted units – so we’re proud to complete an unfitted space of this size

Other Liverpool deals include more than 5,500 sq ft let to Amey at the Matchworks estate south of the city, somewhere Urban Splash has redeveloped into a contemporary commercial campus. Emma concludes: “Urban Splash continues to revisit and reinvest at places like Matchworks, ensuring that we add value to rejuvenate our spaces and create places that meet the changing needs of occupiers.

“The result is buildings brimming with interesting, passionate and entrepreneurial people who each bring something special to our Urban Splash communities. I’m proud that our team has enhanced that with an admirable amount of completed deals this month and look forward to welcoming more businesses into our portfolio in the near future.”

Deals were also completed in the south of the country with one new letting and two renewals at Royal William Yard in Plymouth.
