Strong sales in first week at Park Hill

20 October 2011

The 50-year-old Grade II* listed building has been given a new lease of life by Urban Splash in partnership with Sheffield City Council, Great Places Housing Group, English Heritage and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Four show homes were unveiled at Park Hill on Saturday 8 October as the highly anticipated first phase of the redevelopment went on sale. Prices start from just £90,000 for a one bedroom home upto £150,000 for a three bedroom apartment.

Nicola Wallis, Director of Residential Sales at Urban Splash, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to our marketing campaign and are absolutely delighted so many people came during the opening week. The response has been really positive and we have had some great feedback about the design of the apartments, with customers liking the high specification, big floor to ceiling windows and the dual aspect.

“We’ve had a great mix of people reserving their new homes at Park Hill and there has been lots of local interest as well as national. The reservations are a range of owner occupiers, first time buyers and buy to let investors.”

Councillor Harry Harpham, Cabinet Member for Homes and Regeneration, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this response to Park Hill, particularly amongst local people who turned out in their hundreds over the launch weekend. I also understand that half the reservations that have been made are from local Sheffield people which is excellent news. It’s great to see that as Park Hill moves forward into a new phase the local community will continue to be at its heart.”

The Urban Splash commercial team is also receiving lots of enquires about the 40,000 sq ft of commercial space set aside for offices, retail, cafes and restaurants that is set to be officially launched in the coming months.

Architects Hawkins\Brown, Studio Egret West, interior designers NoChintz and students from Sheffield Hallam University designed the four show apartments which are fitted out to separate design briefs to create a range of styles for people to view. The homes feature high quality specification with under floor heating throughout. There are also large floor to ceiling windows in all apartments which are also duplex and dual aspect so they will all look out over both the city and Park Hill’s newly landscaped courtyard.

First week visitors to the show flats have been impressed. Collette Revill, 47 from Burngreave said: “I moved onto Norwich Row when I was 1 year-old and moved out when I was 12 years-old. I loved growing up here, it was a real community. Just had to come back and look and I love it, I would move back here today. These places have been put back together with such good taste. They’re fantastic!”

Rich Widdowson, 24 from Mosborough: “Living here you would have great access to the city centre and you would own something unique. I would rather show this to my friends than live somewhere boring.”

“I think it’s a very good design I like the modern feel of the apartments,” said Paul Sheen, 49 from Fulwood, Sheffield. “Everything is very clean with clean lines. I like the spiral staircase and the lift. I can remember what it used to be like and it’s been brought it into the 21st century.”

The marketing suite is situated at the heart of the first phase of Park Hill and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am till 5.30pm, people can book a time to see the show homes by calling 0114 303 0375. For more information visit ec2-63-34-210-119.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com/parkhill.
