Urban Splash celebrates 50k sq ft of Liverpool lettings

01 April 2014

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has once again bucked commercial property trends in Liverpool achieving 50,000 sq ft of deals across its city wide commercial portfolio since the turn of the year.

Property and management consultancy, Creative Space Team Ltd, has signed up for 35,000 sq ft of commercial space at the Crown, Jerome & Carlisle building taking full occupancy of the Grade II listed property on Victoria Street.

Meanwhile, at the Matchworks – Urban Splash’s flagship project in Speke – a range of new tenants have taken space including Shop Direct; the Liverpool-based retail giant has taken a 5,509 sq ft unit which will be used as a temporary training facility as part of a seven-month deal.

In the Match Factory – a building offering light industrial space at the Matchworks – ADD Sign & Print has taken 2,245 sq ft. Its director Mark Eccleston said: “The Match Factory is located perfectly for our growing business with easy access to both Liverpool city centre and the motorway network. The flexible working space means that we can support the day to day mechanics of the business whilst providing our valued team with a modern, innovative environment in which to work.”

In the adjacent Grade II listed Mersey House, Urban Splash has let 1,471 sq ft to businesses including Google’s street car software developers, Topcon, whilst existing tenant, Fox IT has expanded its premises. The deals mean that just two units remain at Mersey House.

Back in the city centre, Slater Street Studios is now almost fully let, with new tenants including Diane Line Dressmaker, Sarah Alexander Dressmaker and Class Action Media taking a total of 1,600 sq ft of space this month.

Speaking of the flurry of deals, Nicky Harries of Urban Splash said: “Liverpool continues to be a challenging market but I am delighted to report these deals and again show how our flexible and well-designed space is bucking wider commercial trends across the city.

“The range of tenants that we have attracted over the past few months clearly demonstrate the hugely diverse range of commercial accommodation that we can offer businesses large and small. With both new tenants and existing clients who have extended their leases, we work in partnership to support their vision and realise their ambitions for flexible, competitive workspace solutions.”
