Urban Splash Residential Fund gives Birmingham’s renters a new opportunity to live in the Jewellery Quarter

16 January 2023

Renters in Birmingham can look around a range of new apartments in the city’s Jewellery Quarter next week, as the Urban Splash Residential Fund (USR) welcomes guests inside the historic Derwent House.

The open house event will be held on Tuesday 24th January, with attending guests able to take advantage of a special offer that will give them one month’s rent free*. Interested customers can opt for one of two sessions; there will be day viewings from 9am to 4pm, giving guests the opportunity to view the range of one-and-two-bedroom duplex and single-storey homes on offer. An evening session will run from 4pm to 7pm and will be catered by local independent bar Arch13.

Derwent House is a Grade II listed former foundry and was restored by multi-award winning, Midlands-based design and build company Javelin Block, who sensitively reanimated it, creating 40 apartments each varying in layout. Loft apartments boast their own unique features from winter gardens and zinc-clad kitchen worktops, to original marine light fittings and century-old brickwork.

The building was sold to USR in late 2022, with the company already renting more than 50% of the homes since the turn of the year. USR senior associate James Richardson explained: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming customers into Derwent House, telling them more about this unique buolding and showing them around the remaining homes.

“There has already been great interest here, with more than half of the homes let pre-launch – something that’s testament to a great location in one of the coolest districts in Birmingham, and the original features that make homes here so aesthetically special.”

Renters opting to reserve one of the apartments will also benefit from USR’s unique approach to renting; the company was founded in 2017 with a portfolio of houses and apartments in Birmingham and across the country. It offers customers long-term options so that they can make a home within USR buildings, as well as offering access to green energy suppliers. USR also partners with a community platform called Ark which offers a resident app with access to discounts from local businesses. A community manager has also been appointed as a point of contact for residents living at Derwent House.

Concluded James: “As is evident across our portfolio, we are working hard to nurture a real community at Derwent House, one in which we encourage connection and sustainable living. We look forward meeting the people who’ll become a part of that at our launch.”

Derwent House is located within the Jewellery Quarter; Birmingham’s most sought after city district, it boasts independent businesses, with bars and restaurants like The Jam House and café Saint Kitchen all close by.
